Zâhedân is a city in [Iran's](https://www.reddit.com/r/Tehran) [Sistan and Baluchestan Province](https://www.reddit.com/r/Balochistan). Located in southeastern Iran, near Pakistan and Afghanistan, only about 41 km (25 mi) south of the tripoint of the borders of the three countries, at an altitude of 1,352 m (4,436 ft) above sea level and at a distance of 1,605 km (997 mi) from the Iranian capital of Tehran. Its name is a derivative from the plural of the Persian word zâhid meaning 'pious'.
