How do you log out of one account and switch to another on mobile and desktop?

A practical answer page built from the knowledge base source.

Switching between Reddit accounts is straightforward on both mobile and desktop, and the platform has added a built-in multi-account feature that simplifies the process for users who maintain more than one account. On the desktop web interface, you log out by clicking your username or avatar in the top-right corner of the screen to open the user menu, then selecting "Log Out" from the dropdown. You are then returned to a logged-out view of Reddit and can log back in with different credentials. Reddit's desktop interface also supports adding multiple accounts: within the user menu, there is an option to "Add Account" or "Switch Accounts" depending on the interface version you are using, which allows you to stay logged into multiple accounts simultaneously and toggle between them without a full log-out-and-log-in cycle. On mobile, the process is similar. Tap your avatar or profile icon to access your account menu. From there, you will see your current username and an option to either log out or switch accounts. Reddit's mobile app supports multiple logged-in accounts: tapping "Add Account" from the account switcher allows you to authenticate with a second or third account, and once multiple accounts are added, you can switch between them instantly with a tap. Reddit's internal account-switching feature does not appear to create any unusual platform-level flags, as it is officially supported functionality. Users managing accounts for separate purposes — a personal account and a professional or brand account, for example — find this feature practical. For users who want stronger separation between accounts from a privacy perspective, using the accounts on different browsers (or using private/incognito mode for a secondary account) provides more isolation than the in-app switcher.
